Homemade Rasam powder

An aromatic blend of spices ,sure to enhance the taste of your "Rasam" by multiple times.Try this simple recipe and your lunch times will never be the same again.


Coriander seeds: 1/2 cup
cumin seeds :1/2 cup
red chilies : 3
whole pepper:1 cup
curry leaves (cleaned and dried ): 1cup


  • First dry roast the coriander for few minutes on medium until a nice aroma is obtained
  • Add cumin ,pepper and curry leaves and let roast for a few more minutes
  • finally add the red chilies ,roast for few seconds and turn off the heat.
  • let everything cool and make a coarse powder.
  • store in an airtight container 
  • Use according to your preference or 1 tsp for appx 3 cups of rasam. 
Note :don't let this powder boil for too long as all the spices are already roasted ,add just before turning off the heat for maximum flavor.
Use dried curry leaves for a longer shelf life.if using fresh leaves use with in a few days.
