Best way to store coconut

If you happen to buy whole coconuts and refrigerate  more than a week or so ,you will notice a change in its taste and texture ,and the 'chutneys' don't taste as good.Use this storage method the next time you crack open a whole coconut ,yes it does takes some effort but it pays off well when you  get to taste the fresh nutty flavor in every bite .
Items need
sharp knife
air tight container

  • Start by slicing the coconut into long thin piece as shown in the picture,this helps them grind fast.
  • fill an airtight container with 3/4 part water
  • add in the slices 
  • close the lid tight and refrigerate
  • when ready to use pull out the amount of coconut needed,and keep the remaining refrigerated 
  • change the water every 2 to 3 days
Coconut meat stored in this manner stays good for up to a month .
